My wife and I are remodeling our bathroom and have a “lighting” question.?
We bought a vanity and a mirror and were hoping to put a 3 or 4 vanity light above the mirror. But we want to make sure we’re not to close to the ceiling. The vanity is 34 inches high, the mirror is 35 inches. So allowing for maybe a 3 inch space between the vanity and mirror gets us to exactly 6 feet (72 inches). Now we have 8 ft ceilings. The light fixture is approx 7 inches wide – so in my estimation the top of light fixture will be approx 1 ft from the ceiling. Is that too close?
It’s not too close in terms of ventilation. The only reason you might mind this distance is the shadows and reflections cast on the ceiling. The closer you get the more you’ll notice those visual hot spots. It would help to know the wattage and type of bulbs being used as compact fluorescents generate much less heat.
