I have not been in our house for 3 months and now the water in just the bath is rust colored – what to do?

The two toilets have rust colored water and so does one of the bath tubs. There is also black sediment. The color remains behind when I flush the toilet, but comes off easily with a scrub brush. What can I do to get the water to run clear? The rest of the house seems fine. Is it safe to use for showers?

maybe sediment, but do you have any steel pipes as a part of your plumbing. if you do you should change them to cooper. rust collects in steel pipes over the years.
most rust seems to come from HOT water tanks, toilets do not get water from hot water tanks that’s why i’m thinking steel pipes.
drain the hot water heater tank from the spigot on the bottom of the hot water tank. it’s suggested you drain off a couple of gallons of water from the tank once a month to prevent this build-up of rust.
