What colour furniture and wall colour goes best with lavender and grey bedding?

I’ve posted a few questions about this. I have a beautiful “zen-like” lavender bedding set with grey leaf/flowers on it… but then I have green carpets and lilac walls with cherry wood (red) furniture… it just doesnt look right. What colours would you suggest because I’d really love to keep my bedding.

Thanks for posting the pic … lovely bedding, I can see why you want to keep it!

OK, for now, ignore the floor. Green … ummm, well, let’s assume you have to keep it.

I would paint the walls a medium/light neutral grey. That color would pick up the tones in your bedding (which look silvery in your pic).

About that furniture … do you love it and want (or need) to keep it? Cherry is warm … if you want to keep the cherry furniture, figure a way to add other warm tones to the room … yellow is the complement to purple (lavender) and is a warm color … you could work in some yellow (accent pillows or accessories)

Your bedding would look stunning with black furniture … is replacing the furniture an option? If not, consider adding black accents around the room … picture-frames, trim on a pillow, just little stuff …

Red tones (your furniture) and purple tones (your bedding) can be a challenge to harmonize … they sort of “fight” with one another because they are relatively close on the color wheel, yet different in temperature … your cherry is warm, your bedding is cool …

I really think that if you toss some yellow into the mix, it will act as a “bridge” color …

Go to Home Depot, Sears, Lowes, or wherever you’d consider buying paint, and bring home every yellow (and yellow-related) paint-chip and every grey paint-chip … heck, they are FREE … lay them all out in the room … across the bed, next to the wall … everywhere … yep, put them on that carpet, too (green is half-yellow!)

Let your eye be the judge. It is a process I really cannot explain. Until you see the colors in relation to the other colors, there is no way to know how they will look. You will be able to eliminate a lot of colors (that’s easy) and will be left with a few “good” colors … the hard part is choosing between them.

Pick the one that seems to work best with all the other existing colors … get a quart of paint in that color, or special-order a sample-size, and paint it on … that’s the only way to know!
